Malvina

By on

Malvina is a Sorceress from Duane (post-Phasing Era), who was trained on the Island of Mörk, in the middle of the Icy Lands, the birth and dying place of the dragons along with her “sisters” (see The Story).

Later, she and her sisters separated, after finding and bonding with their dragons. They had glubolíns made from eggs of the same brood to communicate:

  • Malvina, the youngest of the three, had kept the azure blue, and chose to go to the Dragon Head Peninsula. Her dragon is Leörmn
  • Oörlaith had kept the mauve, and went near the town of Kapalÿka, on the Snimeÿa River delta bordering the Marshes of Doom. Andarión is her dragon, shape-shifting as the fearful Mighty Shrimp.
  • Roselÿn, the eldest of the three, had taken the amber one, and had went as far as anyone would have dared go, flying on her spiked dragon Rëgkvist, past the Great Rift.

Åsgurdy

By on

Åsgurdy (also spelt ”Asgurdy”) is a continent of islands of various size found on the Eastern part of the Duane, separated by the Western Continents by the Great Rift that makes it very difficult to be crossed by traditional means.

For ages, communication between the continents was made possible by the usage of traveling portals. After the disappearance of the Guardians, the usage of the portals was concealed (when they were not destroyed) and Asgurdy became separated from the other parts of the Duane.

A harsh country of mountainous rocky peaks blown by violent winds, the climate is a contrast of freezing colds and scorching heat at the same time.

Asgurdians are proud people, with a harsh appearance to match the climate of their land. They are a civilization of great mariners, with a strong distaste for all things “magic” or surnatural. Though their faith is not in that of the Gods as the rest of the Duane, it is quite close to a skeptical animism.

Sinadron

By on

Sinadron was a high-ranking Guardian whose covert intervention within the events taking place on the Duane and Murtuane were crucial in the decision made by the Guardians to phase out of this dimension.

He is the Jokan for the Gate of Daarmedah (Initiators) – his gate energetic anchor is located in the Duane. His Gate is one of the three “Wandering Gates” (also called “Flying Gates”, one for each planet), meaning it isn’t tethered as strongly as the others, and are used for energetic adjustments in the Gate network. His unsanctioned use of these specific abilities of his Gate amplified the instabilities prior to the Phasing of the Phreal.

Humans

By on

One of the dominant species on the Duane, humans are not necessarily to be understood as humans ”stricto sensu”.
Though they share a set of features similar to our own, they would be perceived, for instance, as taller than our standard humans in this dimension.

Their abilities are also different, as the nature of the Alienor dimension is not based on the same set of blueprints or base elements as our own.

Humans through the dimensions

Note: physical configuration of focuses have slightly perceptible changes when moving through the dimensions, essentially visible, in Earth/Alienor’s case, in the height’s difference. In other cases, other more or less comfortable physical modifications can occur, which may explain for instance why Phoebe Chesterhope seems more comfortable in her Alienoran pocket whereas she may seem less fit and slender on Earth…

Gripshawk

By on

Gripshawks ( [ ˈgrip-ˌshȯk ] are one of the races found on the Duane. They have feline features and bear a strong resemblance with Earth Abyssinian cats.

They live in the Southern Deserts where they have developed an underground civilization well versed in the building of efficient tunnels. Their civilization is ignored, if not despised by the Lan’orkians, though traveling portals are being built in their territories, most of these actions are seen as unwarranted forays by their tribes.

They also have a great talent for weaving, and are sometimes referred to as the Desert Weavers.
In many ways, they are recorders and observers and rarely wish to interact directly with outsiders. Their archives have shown an extensive knowledge of intricate architectural patterns and a great artistic talent.

It is believed they are tied to the Guardians in some ways, as they have displayed a use of the tunnels as rudimentary traveling means similar to the Guardians’, and also bear features somewhat reminiscent of some of the Guardians’ (see Kalaad and Cil).

Guardians

By on

The Guardians are an enigmatic race from an ancient and technologically advanced civilization with a profound ability to manipulate their reality. Residing primarily in the Alienor planet systems, particularly the Phrëal, the Guardians possess  similarities to Dream Walkers, demonstrating adeptness in morphing environments within their dimension. Despite their dwindling numbers, their knowledge persists, concentrated among select individuals.

The Guardians’ ability to reshape reality hinges on shared intent, with the potential for collaboration or conflict in their manifestations. Their societal structure lacks hierarchy, emphasizing communal upbringing for younglings without traditional parental roles.

In the lore of Duane, the Guardians inspire awe and myth, often associated with legendary events and artifacts like the Fudjàhs. Major Guardian figures such as Vogel and Nah’Rom are intertwined with significant occurrences, contributing to a complex mythology.

During the phasing of Phrëal, some Guardians opt to remain, leading to the emergence of new races: Dragons and Nirguals. These beings represent energetic rearrangements of Guardian essence, tethered to specific dimensions. Their existence underscores the intricate interplay between consciousness and the fabric of reality, adding layers to the Guardians’ legacy in the universe.
